ABSTRACT:
The aim of the present studies was to carry out the biochemical screening, antibacterial investigation and GC-MS analysis of the root extract of Hemidesmus indicus extracted in ethanol extract. It revealed the presence of alkaloids, phenolic compound, saponins, Flavenoids, carbohydrates, reducing sugars etc.GC-MS analysis of the ethanolic extract indicated the presence of many constituents which is responsible for its antibacterial activities. Ethanolic extract of Hemidesmus indicus showed good inhibition zone against selected bacteria Escherchia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Results were tested with standard antibiotics streptomycin the active compounds which are present in ethanolic extract is analysed by using advance chromatography technique of GCMS. The current review highlights importance of Hemidesmus indicus used as an antibacterial drug against selected bacteria and its GCMS analysis
