ABSTRACT:
This study seeks to highlight the pharmacological activities and bioactive components contained within Tibouchina urvilleana, a plant noted for its healing effects. The necessity of both ancient and modern literature to fully reveal the therapeutic potential of the plant has been highlighted in this study. Tibouchina urvilleana (DC) Cogn. Also referred to as Glory Bush or Princess Flower belongs to the botanical family, Melastomataceae. This plant is noted for both its ornamental and medicinal significance. The plant consists of an abundance of secondary metabolites such as tannins, flavonoids and terpenoids. Pharmacological studies have revealed the presence of significant antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory and Cytotoxic activity. This article has been prepared based on conclusions from different studies on the pharmacological activities of the herb.
