ABSTRACT:
Euphorbia caducifolia, a plant of the Euphorbiaceae family, is indigenous to India's Thar Desert. It commonly known as "danda thor," this succulent plant is native to India's arid regions and is frequently used in traditional medicine to treat infections, wounds, and skin conditions. Because of its purported haemostatic and restorative qualities, its milky latex has traditionally been used to treat bleeding wounds. By analysing the ethnomedicinal significance, phytochemical profile, and documented pharmacological actions of E. caducifolia latex, this paper seeks to thoroughly investigate the plant's capacity for wound healing. The latex's anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and tissue-regenerating properties are attributed to its abundance of bioactive substances, including triterpenoids, flavonoids, phenolics, and steroids. Preclinical research has demonstrated that the latex speeds epithelialisation, improves wound contraction, and stimulates collagen formation in both in vitro and in vivo models. Clinical proof is still lacking, despite its therapeutic potential, and problems including possible skin irritation and a lack of standardisation present difficulties. In order to develop safe, efficient, and standardised latex-based formulations for contemporary wound care applications, further research is required, as this review emphasises.
