ABSTRACT:
Human beings have been using the plants for treating their injuries, disorders since ancient times. With modernization of medical science these uses have been exploited for inventions of many drugs. But still many tribes are using drugs in their primitive form and knowledge of such formulations is limited to their community. This traditional knowledge is hardly communicated to people other than the members of community. This knowledge must be recorded, documented and an attempt to establish scientific correlation should be made. Kaas plateu and the region is a biodiversity hotspot and local people are still using the natural remedies for treating the disorders. The current ethnomedicinal survey is aimed to identify, collect such plants used by local people to treat ailments like convulsions, malaria and jaundice. Information of such plants and way of using them was collected. 10 plants were identified and their information was recorded. The information pooled from this survey can be further used for establishing the scientific data pertaining to these claims. If such claims are proven scientifically standardized methods can be developed for the reliable and reproducible use of these remedies.
